6-APR-2019
It was Gudi Padwa (Hindu New Year 2019) Utsav celebration
at Gazdar Ashram in Mumbai.
This evening the living room and the terrace/patio
were packed as there were more than 100 devotees attending Satsang.
That day one of the devotees had brought Kheer
Prasad so after the Pravachan, I went into the kitchen to offer my Seva of
serving. Adjacent to the kitchen is a bathroom for Satsang devotees to use
during Satsang. I saw that a lot of devotees had gathered there, and I was told
that the bathroom had become nonfunctional. Just to see what the matter was, I
peeped in the bathroom to find my cousin Kalpita struggling to clear a pool of
dirty water from the bathroom floor. She looked at me and said that someone had
vomited into the basin and that had got the drain clogged. With that blockage,
the mess was now also on the bathroom floor, so I offered to help.
Having no tools on hand in the bathroom to deal
with the situation, besides squeezy and plastic broom, we had barely managed to
clear the messy water from the floor; when someone called on us to do Namaskar
to Nitindada and take the Prasad as we were the only two left. We quickly
washed our hands and went to take the Prasad. But after we returned to our
utter dismay, the bathroom floor was flooded again with dirty water. Since the
basin water emptied in the drain, so as we had washed our hands, the dirty water
had come up flooding the bathroom floor, again.
Realising that the issue in the bathroom was not getting resolved, and since we had exhausted all our options, I suggested to Kalpita
to inform Nitindada about this. She returned with a plunger in hand, as HE had
told her to use a plunger. I noticed that the plunger had a big crack, and
thought how could this a create a vacuum, NO WAY this would work to clear the
block. But Kalpita said that it was the only one available there.
As HE had said to use a plunger, I recited Ram
Naam and inserted the plunger into the basin drain. The plunger was also
smaller in diameter than the drain hole and so it went straight inside the
drain. That VERY MOMENT, all the water went in. The drain blockage got cleared! We were able to pour lots of water and wash the bathroom clean. It showed
me that if HE says, then even a wrongly sized, cracked plunger works!
Thank YOU Nitindada for allowing me to witness
this.
The lessons I learnt -
1. Just obey HIM and HE takes cares of everything.
2. With HIM anything is possible.
3. HE is the Doer and I am a mere instrument in
HIS hands.
